Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Ali Namadi, has tendered his resignation hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received a report from an investigative committee probing his involvement in the bail of suspected drug baron Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.

The committee, presented by Secretary to the State Government Umar Farouk, found that Namadi “did not exercise adequate caution before taking the decision to stand surety for a defendant facing serious narcotics charges,” despite having knowledge of the allegations and being aware of government policy against drug trafficking.

In his resignation statement issued through spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Namadi said, “As a member of an administration that has consistently championed the fight against the sales and consumption of illicit drugs, it behooves me to take this step — painful as it may be.” He insisted he was innocent and cited “the overriding public interest and the sensitive nature of the matter” as grounds for stepping down.

Governor Yusuf accepted the resignation and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, discipline, and zero tolerance for drug-related crimes, reminding political appointees to exercise caution and seek clearance on sensitive public issues.
