The shutdown has left many candidates unable to check their results, with complaints flooding social media about error messages and site timeouts.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily taken down its result-checking portal following a technical issue, just hours after announcing the release of the 2025 WASSCE results.

In a statement posted Wednesday evening on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, WAEC wrote: “WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shutdown due to technical issues.

“However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours. Please bear with us.”

The shutdown has left many candidates unable to check their results, with complaints flooding social media about error messages and site timeouts.

While the council did not reveal the specific nature of the malfunction, it assured the public that efforts to restore the portal are ongoing.

Candidates are advised to stay tuned to WAEC’s official platforms for updates as restoration work continues.
