ABUJA — Popular Fuji musician and staunch Tinubu supporter, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, may face life imprisonment or a minimum 10-year sentence if convicted for endangering aircraft safety, according to lawyer and writer, Abdul Mahmud.

Mahmud, on Thursday, said Kwam 1’s alleged actions at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport violated Section 33 of the Civil Aviation Act, 2022, warning against trivializing the offence. “This is not a moment for slap-on-the-wrist theatrics,” Mahmud said. “It is a grave criminal offence… The mere act is enough to ground a conviction.”

The incident reportedly occurred on August 5, during a ValueJet flight, when Kwam 1, accused of consuming alcohol on board, refused to comply with crew instructions and allegedly blocked the aircraft’s path during taxiing.

FAAN confirmed the disruption, stating the singer spilled alcohol on officials trying to inspect his flask.

SaharaReporters revealed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority suspended two ValueJet pilots for procedural breaches during the incident.

Mahmud insisted: “Kwam 1 should be charged. If found guilty, he should face the full weight of the law. No ifs. No buts.”
