Ex-Senator Ibrahim Musa Kontagora has died in Abuja after Nizamiye Hospital allegedly delayed emergency surgery over incomplete payment of a $30,000 bill.
Former Senator Ibrahim Musa Kontagora has died in Abuja following a delayed emergency surgery at Nizamiye Hospital over an unpaid $15,000 balance.
The hospital reportedly withheld treatment until the full $30,000 fee was paid, despite the family’s initial deposit of $15,000. “Hospital officials said they would treat him as soon as the remaining balance came in,” a family member said.
The funds eventually arrived, but it was too late. A hospital spokesperson confirmed their full-payment-before-treatment policy but declined responsibility. Kontagora, who represented Niger North from 2011 to 2015, was assisted by Governor Mohammed Bago and others who helped raise funds.
He is survived by his wife and children and will be buried Thursday after Islamic rites at the National Mosque, Abuja.
