Telecom operator 9mobile has rebranded to T2, changing its name and colour from green to orange
Telecom operator 9mobile has rebranded to T2, changing its name and colour from green to orange. The transformation was unveiled at the “Tech Meets Tenacity” event held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
Chief Executive Officer Obafemi Banigbe said the rebrand was aimed at positioning the company to lead the industry. “This change is necessary for us to give our best. We are not playing a catch-up, but to lead in the industry,” he stated.
The event drew notable figures, including Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani, and featured performances by several music artists, anchored by Darey Art Alade.
9mobile, formerly Etisalat Nigeria, has faced setbacks since its peak of 22 million subscribers in 2014-2016, dropping to 3.2 million by January 2025 following investor exit and infrastructure decline.
A recent national roaming deal with MTN aims to boost coverage and service quality as the company moves forward under its new T2 identity.
