“My name is Wasiu Ayinde, nobody does that with me and gets away with it… I don’t want to go anymore on that flight in my life,” he said, warning that airline owner Kunle Soname “will feel” his displeasure.
Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has vowed never to fly with ValueJet again, accusing the airline of humiliating him despite his medical condition.
In a leaked audio recording, K1 alleged that ValueJet staff denied him boarding after he requested water, citing chronic dehydration. “My name is Wasiu Ayinde, nobody does that with me and gets away with it… I didn’t jump the queue… I don’t want to go anymore on that flight in my life,” he said, warning that airline owner Kunle Soname “will feel” his displeasure.
The audio emerged after an August 5 altercation at Abuja airport. In a subsequent apology, K1 insisted the flask he carried contained water, not alcohol, and expressed regret for the incident, which he called “unfortunate.”
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo confirmed receiving reports and video footage, describing the confrontation as a breach of safety by both K1 and airline staff. He condemned the musician for blocking an aircraft from taxiing, likening it to “a hostage situation,” and faulted the pilot for moving the plane while the obstruction remained.
