Enzo Maresca says Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana will both be fit for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace next Sunday.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana will be fit for the club’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace next Sunday.

The Blues beat AC Milan 4-1 in a friendly at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with goals from Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. However, Chalobah’s second-half withdrawal after rolling his ankle raised concerns, especially with Levi Colwill sidelined long-term following ACL surgery.

“He is ok,” Maresca joked. “It was too hot, so he decided to go out.”

The Italian also confirmed Fofana, who has made just 34 competitive appearances since joining in 2022 due to injuries, will feature in the season opener. “He will be available for Palace,” Maresca said. “We are very happy because he is an important player.”

Chelsea’s shortened pre-season, following their Club World Cup run, ended with two wins from two friendlies and a 6-1 aggregate scoreline, leaving Maresca confident ahead of the campaign.
