Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has questioned a social media post from UEFA, European football’s governing body, for not mentioning how a Palestinian footballer died.
According to the Palestinian Football Association Suleiman al-Obeid, nicknamed the “Palestinian Pele”, was killed by Israeli forces in southern Gaza on Wednesday, aged 41.
Al-Obeid was described as “one of the brightest stars of Palestinian football” by the PFA.
UEFA posted a tribute to him on X on Friday.
“Farewell to Suleiman al-Obeid, the ‘Palestinian Pele,” UEFA posted, accompanied by a picture of the player.
“A talent who gave hope to countless children, even in the darkest of times.”
