Former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, ex-PDP national chairman Prince Uche Secondus, and Senators Lee Maeba and Andrew Uchendu have reportedly joined the party.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State says its membership has surged to over 800,000, with more high-profile politicians joining its ranks.

Speaking at a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday, the state Publicity Secretary, Luckyman Egila, described the ADC as “a beautiful bride” attracting key figures, including former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, ex-PDP national chairman Prince Uche Secondus, and Senators Lee Maeba and Andrew Uchendu.

“These persons have left their former parties, and they are now full members of the ADC,” Egila said, adding that Uchendu is the party’s South-South Vice Chairman. Other members include former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Okpara, and ex-Transport Minister, Dr Abiye Sekibo.

Egila noted the party has structures in every local government and community in the state, affirming: “The African Democratic Congress is united… we don’t tolerate any act that will bring the party to disrepute.”
