Atiku’s spokesman questions why KWAM 1 escaped same treatment as Ibom Air passenger

ABUJA — Paul Ibe, spokesman to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised what he described as double standards in the handling of recent disruptions in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

In a post on X on Monday, Ibe condemned the physical removal of Ms. Comfort Emmanson from an Ibom Air flight by crew and airport security on Sunday. He questioned why Fuji star Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, was not similarly removed when he allegedly obstructed ValueJet operations in Abuja last week.

“There’s a temptation to hail the airport security officials… But the question arises: Why was KWAM 1 also not bundled out… Maybe it was because Comfort is not a friend of the President,” Ibe wrote.

He argued that authorities should have prosecuted KWAM 1 to set a precedent and deter future incidents. “When will KWAM 1 be arraigned in court along with Comfort? The world… is watching,” Ibe added.

Ibe urged deliberate action to address bad behaviour in Nigeria’s aviation sector, warning that inconsistent enforcement undermines discipline and safety.
