The Ogun State Government has denied sealing any properties belonging to former governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel. This statement was made by the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Tunji Odunlami, during a press briefing on Monday at the Olusegun Osoba Press Centre in Abeokuta.

Odunlami disclosed that a notice of sealing issued on August 11, 2025, from the Zonal office in Sagamu had been immediately withdrawn. He urged Gbenga Daniel to visit the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority’s Sagamu office to regularize his documents and ensure compliance with state regulations.

The Commissioner explained that the ongoing urban renewal initiatives under Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration were routine procedures aimed at auditing government lands in various areas, including Sagamu GRA. “It is a simple and transparent approach which is known and adopted the world over,” Odunlami said, stressing that the exercise was not targeted at any individual.

Odunlami further stated that similar permit verification exercises have already taken place in Abeokuta and are currently ongoing in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode, with plans to extend to Ota and Ilaro. He emphasized, “All the owners of properties served with notices need to present their permits and documents for verification,” adding that Gbenga Daniel had yet to make any such submission.
