Calls to boycott American brands such as McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Apple, and Amazon are spreading in India after US President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods.
The campaign, fuelled by social media, accuses Washington of protectionism that could hurt Indian exports and jobs in sectors like textiles and pharmaceuticals.
Protesters in several cities have urged consumers to choose local alternatives, while trade groups are pushing the government to respond with similar tariffs on US imports.
New Delhi has not yet announced its official stance on the issue.
