“Peter Obi won that election; that was according to the true results. We had the data…”

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader, Babachir Lawal, has claimed that Labour Party’s Peter Obi, not President Bola Tinubu, won the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Lawal said, “Peter Obi won that election; that was according to the true results. We had the data… We can see clearly the point at which they were altered.” However, he noted that political dynamics had changed since 2023, making it uncertain if Obi could replicate the feat in 2027.

On 2027 power rotation, Lawal said, “Power should go to the person that will give every Nigerian a sense of belonging… preferably from the ADC.” He stressed that the north should vote en bloc for a candidate who understands its challenges.

Lawal also criticised President Tinubu, saying, “He thinks I’m the one that offended him; I did not offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself.” He admitted he is not electable, joking, “My wife will not vote for me.”
