EFCC Grills Former Sokoto Governor Over ₦189bn Withdrawals

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday interrogated former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, over alleged suspicious cash withdrawals totalling ₦189 billion during his tenure.

Tambuwal appeared at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 a.m., where investigators questioned him on possible violations of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Sources say the transactions are considered questionable and may have breached financial regulations.


Customs Seizes Firearms, Cannabis, and Fake Drugs Worth ₦10bn

The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 16 containers of contraband, including firearms, ammunition, cannabis, and counterfeit drugs, at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa. Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi, speaking in Lagos on Monday, confirmed the seizure of two pump-action rifles, 25 rounds of ammunition, and 202 cans of Canadian strain cannabis, “Colorado Loud.” He said the items, valued at ₦10 billion, were concealed in various shipments.


Five Arraigned Over 2022 Owo Church Massacre

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday arraigned five suspects before a Federal High Court in Abuja over the June 5, 2022, St. Francis Catholic Church attack in Owo, Ondo State. The attack left dozens dead and many injured. The suspects had been in DSS custody since their arrest and now face terrorism-related charges.
