We do not condone such indecent exposure, and it is unfortunate that the video has gone viral
The management of Ibom Air has denied involvement in the release of a widely circulated video depicting a passenger being stripped naked onboard a flight. Speaking on 12 August 2025, Aniekan Essienette, the airline’s Group Manager of Marketing and Communications, emphasized that although the footage was recorded in-flight, “it was neither filmed nor shared by Ibom Air staff.” She added, “The video was recorded on the plane, but there were several people on board who were not Ibom Air employees. Anyone could have taken it.”
Essienette further stated that the airline “did not release the video” and condemned its spread: “We do not condone such indecent exposure, and it is unfortunate that the video has gone viral.”
According to the report, the incident occurred on 10 August, after the passenger allegedly refused to switch off her electronic device, in contravention of NCAA safety regulations. This refusal led to a confrontation in which the crew had to restrain her to facilitate a safe removal from the aircraft.
Meanwhile, Ibom Air reaffirmed its commitment to safety and customer service but has not yet disclosed whether it will investigate the video’s leak or discipline any individuals responsible.
