Keffi Prison Break: 16 Inmates Escape After Attacking Officers
Sixteen inmates have escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, after overpowering personnel on duty. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) said five officers sustained injuries during the incident.
Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, confirmed the jailbreak and ordered an investigation, warning that any complicit staff will face disciplinary action.
A coordinated manhunt for the escapees is underway.
