“FAAN will work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” Keyamo said.

The Federal Government plans to appoint Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, as an ambassador for airport security, following his recent altercation with ValueJet staff.

Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, announced on Wednesday that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had reduced KWAM 1’s six-month flight suspension to one month and would withdraw criminal complaints against him. “FAAN will work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” Keyamo said.

The licences of ValueJet’s Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba will also be restored after a one-month ban and mandatory professional reappraisal.

The controversy began on August 6 when KWAM 1 refused to surrender a flask to a flight attendant, claiming it contained prescribed medication. He was deboarded and later attempted to block the aircraft’s departure, an incident captured in a widely circulated video.
