“It is left for the AON to work out those details since she has been actually released from prison custody today based on my earlier statement.” – Festus Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, says airline operators are considering making Ms. Comfort Emmanson, recently freed from prison, an ambassador for good passenger conduct.

Emmanson was jailed after an incident on an Ibom Air flight but was released on Wednesday following government intervention and the airline’s withdrawal of its complaint.

Keyamo said the voluntary role, without financial benefits, is also being considered for Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) over a separate airport incident. “It is common practice all over the world that a repentant offender is made to preach publicly against the exact conduct from which he has repented. It is akin to Community Service,” he stated.

Emmanson was banned for life by Ibom Air after allegedly refusing to switch off her phone during takeoff, sparking rights group backlash. KWAM 1 was accused of spilling alcohol on staff and blocking a plane from taxiing at Abuja airport.
