Documents from the Office of the Accountant General show ₦46.9 billion remains unpaid, covering allocations from March to June 2025.
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly ignored appeals from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for the release of withheld local government allocations, despite personal discussions at the Aso Rock Villa in June. Sources said Tinubu referenced Adeleke’s removal of local government chairmen when the governor raised concerns over the suspension of funds.
Documents from the Office of the Accountant General show ₦46.9 billion remains unpaid, covering allocations from March to June 2025. Efforts by the state government, including presenting a recent court judgment, have yielded no response from the Presidency.
The Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) denied claims Tinubu was withholding funds, accusing Adeleke’s administration of misinforming the public and owing local councils ₦84 billion, allegedly withdrawn in violation of a Supreme Court ruling.
In June, the Court of Appeal upheld the February 2025 local government elections, affirming the PDP’s victory and dismissing the APC’s challenge as lacking merit.
