Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the team is yet to receive the promised $100,000 reward, along with other commitments made by the Federal Government.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team has yet to receive the $100,000 reward promised by the Federal Government following their 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) victory. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she expressed disappointment, stating, “We have not receive[d] our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything.”
Ajibade led the Nigerian squad to a record-extending win in Morocco, earning national acclaim. In recognition of their achievement, President Bola Tinubu had conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on the players and technical crew. Additionally, he pledged a cash reward of $100,000 per player along with three-bedroom apartments.
The team’s triumph had been celebrated with widespread fanfare, yet the delay in fulfilling financial commitments threatens to overshadow the victory. Ajibade’s comments highlight growing frustration over unmet promises, raising questions about accountability and follow-through. The Falcons and their supporters now await concrete action from authorities to uphold the government’s pledges.
