The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has posted ₦5.21 trillion in revenue from January to June 2025, drawing commendation from the Energy Policy Advancement Centre for strategic management and debt recovery.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced ₦5.21 trillion in revenue between January and June 2025, representing 34.7% of its ₦15 trillion annual target. Figures include ₦1.04 trillion in royalties from NNPC joint ventures and ₦315.93 billion from Project Gazelle receipts.

The Energy Policy Advancement Centre (EPAC) hailed the performance as a “clear demonstration of strategic revenue management,” praising NUPRC Chief Executive Gbenga Komolafe for combining regulation with foresight and accountability.

EPAC noted the feat was achieved despite oil market volatility, highlighting NUPRC’s debt recovery drive, which secured $459,226 from outstanding obligations. “Debt recovery may not attract headlines, but it is the backbone of fiscal discipline,” said EPAC Director-General Dr. Ibrahim Musa.

The think tank urged oil firms and agencies to align with NUPRC’s pace through timely payments, regulatory compliance, and upstream investments, expressing optimism that the ₦15 trillion annual target remains attainable.
