Clinton stressed her aim was “to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
WASHINGTON – Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said she would nominate Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize if he can end the war in Ukraine without conceding territory to Russia.
Speaking on the Raging Moderates podcast, Clinton – Trump’s bitter rival in the 2016 presidential election – said, “Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war, if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor, could really stand up to Putin… I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.”
She added that her goal was “to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
The comments came as Trump boarded Air Force One for a high-stakes summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, aimed at brokering an end to the three-year conflict.
Trump has previously expressed a desire for the prize, following the example of his predecessor, Barack Obama.
