British Airways has suspended a pilot accused of leaving the cockpit door open mid-flight, sparking a security investigation.

A British Airways pilot has been suspended for allegedly leaving the cockpit door open during a Heathrow–New York flight, in breach of anti-terror rules. Sources told The Sun the captain wanted his family, on board as passengers, to see him at the controls.

The incident alarmed passengers, and crew reported him, leading to his grounding. The Civil Aviation Authority has launched an urgent investigation.

The alleged breach caused the cancellation of the return flight BA174 to London last Friday, affecting hundreds of passengers. A source said, “The door was wide open for a significant time — enough for people to worry and comment.” BA officials said the suspension was in line with company policy.
