Aisha Yesufu has joined Peter Obi in faulting WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s praise of President Tinubu for stabilising Nigeria’s economy.
Activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, over her remarks commending President Bola Tinubu for stabilising Nigeria’s economy.
Her comments follow similar criticism from former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who also faulted Okonjo-Iweala’s position.
In a post on X on Sunday, Yesufu questioned why Nigerians should give Tinubu credit for stabilising what she described as an economy he had destabilised. She argued that the economy has yet to recover to its pre-Tinubu level, insisting any claim of stability would only make sense if the president had inherited a worse situation.
“Give credit to someone that threw the economy into an unprecedented bad state because he was now stabilising his mess? What is the stability being compared to?” she asked.
Yesufu maintained that Nigerians are still struggling with hardship, stressing that the economy remains far from recovery despite official claims of stability.
