Paul Scholes offers blunt response to daughter wearing Arsenal shirt as Man United legend watched Red Devils’ Premier League opener
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes had a lighthearted clash with his daughter after she appeared in an Arsenal shirt during the Red Devils’ Premier League opener.
The 50-year-old was watching United’s first game of the season against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday when Alicia, 24, entered the lounge wearing the Gunners’ jersey. A clip shared on social media showed Scholes reacting immediately, telling her to “take it off.” She quickly replied: “No.”
The exchange amused fans online but highlighted a divided household as Arsenal went on to claim a 1-0 victory. Riccardo Calafiori’s 13th-minute header proved decisive, giving Alicia bragging rights over her father.
Alicia, who plays for London Pulse in the Netball Super League and represents England internationally, is one of three children Scholes shares with his wife, Claire Froggatt. The couple also have two sons, Arron, 25, and Aiden, 20.
Despite the defeat, Scholes is likely to have been encouraged by the performances of new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who impressed with their direct play. United will travel to Fulham next weekend before a League Cup tie against Grimsby Town.
