Anambra authorities have arrested security operatives filmed assaulting corps member Jennifer Elobor during a raid.

The Anambra State Government has condemned the assault on a National Youth Service Corps member, Jennifer Elobor, by operatives of the state’s security outfit, Agbunechemba.

A viral video posted on Tuesday showed the armed operatives storming a corps members’ lodge, accusing the occupants of being internet fraudsters despite their NYSC identification. Elobor was beaten, her clothes torn, and her cries ignored, sparking outrage on social media.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, described the incident as “unfortunate and unacceptable.”

He confirmed that the officers involved had been arrested and detained. “Immediately the incident happened, we arrested the operatives involved and placed them in detention,” he said.

Emeakayi explained that the assault occurred during a joint security operation under Operation Udo Gatchi, but stressed that the government would not tolerate abuse of power.
