Checks reveal Ooni first named Dotun Sanusi Okanlomo of Yorubaland in 2019, years before current row with Alaafin.
A fresh twist has emerged in the dispute between the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, over the conferment of the Okanlomo of Yorubaland title on Ibadan businessman Dotun Sanusi.
Checks by OYOINSIGHT.COM show that the Ooni had already designated Sanusi for the title in 2019 during the reign of the late Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi III, but the formal installation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a birthday reception in Ife, the Ooni described Sanusi as a humanitarian whose contributions merited recognition. He announced then that Sanusi, Mogaji of Olugbade family, would be installed once the pandemic ended.
