The Anambra government has sacked eight vigilantes over the brutal assault of corps member Jennifer Elobor, with Governor Soludo ordering their prosecution.
The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit for the brutal assault and public stripping of a female corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor.
Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, announced the decision on Wednesday in Awka. He said the operatives, accused of attacking the corps member while pursuing suspected cultists, would be prosecuted.
“The Soludo administration will not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism, brutality or abuse of office by security operatives. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” Emeakayi stated.
Despite pleas for a quiet resolution, the government ordered a full probe, settled Elobor’s medical bills, replaced her damaged valuables, and issued a public apology to her family and the NYSC.
Emeakayi stressed that the case marked a turning point for community security reforms. Police authorities, however, declined to confirm if the operatives had been handed over.
