Chief Bisi Akande, during a condolence visit to Kaduna, paid a heartfelt tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him “maybe, an angel coming in human flesh,” and recalling that their last meeting gave no sign that death was imminent.

Chief Bisi Akande, the pioneer national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Osun State, led a delegation to Kaduna to offer condolences to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recalling their final encounter, Akande said he first learnt of Buhari’s passing while abroad. He recounted: “I first heard that he died when I was abroad. Before then, I met him in Daura after our feast. We had a nice time together. He was looking robust, he was healthy, very strong.”

Describing his reaction to the news, the elder statesman expressed deep sorrow: “Very painful, very, very painful.” Upon returning to Nigeria, he made it his first priority to visit the Buhari family, saying: “When I came back, I thought the first thing I should do is to come and meet the family, commiserate with them and pray with them. And that’s what I have come here to do today.”

Akande praised Buhari as a rare and patriotic leader whose influence would endure: “He was a great Nigerian. He was patriotic. Maybe he was an angel coming in human flesh and he had done his bit. He had passed.”
