EFCC and NIS deported 51 convicted foreign cybercriminals, bringing the total to 102 since August 15, 2025.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has deported 51 foreign nationals convicted of cybercrime. According to a statement released on Thursday, the deportees include 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian.
The EFCC disclosed that the exercise, conducted on Thursday, brings the total number of foreign convicts repatriated since Friday, August 15, 2025, to 102. The commission noted that the move forms part of an ongoing crackdown on international cybercrime syndicates operating within Nigeria.
The deported individuals were among 192 foreign suspects arrested in Lagos during a sting operation based on intelligence reports. Authorities described the group as one of the largest foreign-led cybercrime networks uncovered in the country.
“The successful conviction and repatriation of these individuals send a clear message: we will not tolerate the use of our nation’s digital space for illicit activities that undermine our economy and national security,” the EFCC stated.
