After realising the error, I immediately reported it to Dr Monye and he duly acknowledged the fact that there had indeed been a mistake.
A Nigerian cryptocurrency trader, Jola Omotoso, has accused Chukwuka Monye, a 2023 ADC presidential aspirant, of withholding $58,500 mistakenly sent to a wallet linked to him. Omotoso told FIJ on Thursday that the error occurred on July 11 during a test transfer.
“On July 11, while we were trying to execute a gentleman transfer of $1 to a wallet address that was provided by one of Dr Monye’s associates, my team erroneously transferred $58,500 to it,” Omotoso said.
He claimed Monye acknowledged the mistake but has failed to refund the money despite repeated pleas. “Since July 11, Dr Monye has been giving countless excuses and has refused to return the $58,500 to us to date,” he said.
Omotoso said legal steps had been taken, warning that his company’s reputation was at stake. Efforts to reach Monye for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages were unanswered.
