“It’s not about me being president at all costs. It’s about having a government that delivers,” says Atiku.
Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, says his political ambition is not about becoming president at all costs but about building a better Nigeria.
Speaking on Saturday at an affirmation ceremony in Lagos for new African Democratic Congress (ADC) members, Atiku, represented by Prof. Ola Olateju of Achievers University, said: “It’s not about him being the president. It’s about having a better government, a good government that will deliver for Nigerians.”
Atiku recently resigned from the PDP to join ADC with other opposition leaders. He described the ADC as a movement for national transformation, stressing that leadership must prioritize security, prosperity, and accountability.
On the 2027 elections, Atiku said the ADC presidential candidate would emerge through a free and fair process, adding: “Whoever picks the ticket shall be the representative of the Nigerian people.”
The event also welcomed prominent defectors, including PDP chieftains and former party leaders, into the ADC.
