Nigeria Police, in collaboration with INTERPOL, have repatriated a Chinese gang leader, Dai Qisheng, wanted for violent organised crimes in Guizhou Province.
The Nigeria Police Force has repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to China following a joint operation with INTERPOL.
Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Qisheng, “a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province for orchestrating violent organised crimes,” fled China in 2024 after a warrant was issued by the Zhijin County Public Security Bureau.
He was tracked and arrested in Abuja on August 8 by operatives of INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau. “Following his arrest, the fugitive was repatriated on August 15, 2025, to Beijing under the established framework of police-to-police cooperation,” Adejobi said.
The operation, described as “landmark,” highlights the Force’s commitment to tackling transnational crime. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun assured that Nigeria will not be a haven for fugitives, stressing, “The arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng sends a clear message to criminals worldwide.”
