Liverpool are expected to push through a deal for Alexander Isak “sooner rather than later” despite Newcastle United’s £150m valuation.
Liverpool remain confident of signing Alexander Isak before the transfer window closes, despite Newcastle United’s firm stance on their £150m asking price.
According to the Liverpool Echo’s Ian Doyle, there is a “nagging suspicion” that Liverpool will not settle for anyone else, with an outcome expected after Monday’s clash between the two clubs.
“Every club has a contingency plan. But there is a nagging suspicion Liverpool are intent on signing Alexander Isak and won’t settle for anyone else,” Doyle said.
Liverpool had an earlier £110m bid rejected but could return with an improved offer if Newcastle secure a replacement. Isak, meanwhile, has been training alone in a bid to force the move.
Doyle suggested the deal could mirror the Virgil van Dijk saga, with the Reds prepared to wait until January if necessary.
Newcastle are also reported to have ruled out any bids for Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes this summer.
