Atiku Abubakar has declared he will run for president in 2027, vowing that his ADC coalition will “shock the world” while accusing Tinubu’s government of corruption and mismanagement.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, dismissing speculations that he might withdraw from the race.

Speaking through his former campaign spokesperson, Tunde Olusunle, Atiku said Nigeria must be “rescued from the intensive care unit it has been consigned to under the Bola Tinubu government.” He accused the administration of “mega-scale, unimpeded thievery and the absolute lack of accountability.”

Atiku further explained that his coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would galvanise massive public support ahead of the next election. “ADC is leading a potent mass movement which will shock the world. We will upstage the status quo in a way which will leave doubters dumbstruck,” he stated.

Clarifying a recent report suggesting he was not focused on occupying Aso Rock, Atiku said the remarks credited to Prof Ola Olateju did not represent his views. “I will run in 2027,” he affirmed.
