“There’s no part of the agreement that has been enforced,” says ASUU president.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused the federal government of failing to implement agreements reached with the union.

ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, disclosed this during an interview on Trust TV, lamenting that none of the negotiated agreements on funding, conditions of service, academic freedom, and university autonomy had been enforced.

“There’s no part of the agreement that has been enforced. We have agreed with the government team on each of the items… What is left is for the government team to take action,” he said.

Piwuna linked the mass exodus of lecturers and medical professionals to poor salaries and working conditions, citing the loss of 20 consultants at Jos University Teaching Hospital in two years.

He warned that the crisis in public universities would persist without urgent reforms, urging stakeholders to support ASUU’s advocacy for better funding and facilities.

“This is not about ASUU. It is about our future and about our country,” he added.
