Obiang Nsue gets six-year jail term for illegally selling national carrier’s aircraft.

A court in Equatorial Guinea has convicted Ruslan Obiang Nsue, son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, for illegally selling a plane belonging to the national carrier, Ceiba Intercontinental.

On Tuesday, the court sentenced the 50-year-old to six years in prison unless he reimburses about $255,000, plus damages and a state fine, said supreme court press director Hilario Mitogo.

Nsue, a former airline director, sold the ATR 72-500 to a Spanish company and pocketed the proceeds. He was first placed under house arrest in 2023.
