APC says Tinubu is endorsed for 2027 but other party members remain free to contest.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that despite the broad endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, the party will still allow other aspirants to contest for its 2027 presidential ticket.
APC’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, made this known on Wednesday during an interactive session with journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
He said, “We will definitely not close our doors to other presidential aspirants. When the time comes, our timetable will be made known. Anybody who wants to aspire for the presidency under APC will not be denied the opportunity to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to exercise their franchise.”
Argungu explained that the endorsement of Tinubu by the National Working Committee, Progressives Governors Forum, and National Assembly leadership was a recognition of his “outstanding performance,” not a restriction on others.
He further hailed APC’s recent by-election victories as proof of its “strength, resilience, and growing acceptance nationwide.”
