Hulk Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, is preparing to file a medical malpractice lawsuit over a May neck surgery she alleges compromised his respiratory nerve and contributed to his death.

Sky Daily, widow of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, is planning to file a medical malpractice lawsuit against the doctors involved in a neck surgery he underwent in May, according to reports. The focus of the suit centers on concerns that Hogan’s phrenic nerve—essential for breathing—was “compromised” during the procedure.

Sky has told the media, “We are investigating for possible malpractice. If you have shortness of breath for a long time, that makes you very sick,” adding, “It’s not something that’s an alarming (sudden) cause of death. It’s something that wears on you, makes you weak.”

In a 911 emergency call made on July 24, Sky reportedly told responders, “My husband’s not breathing. He just stopped breathing.” This, along with observations by an occupational therapist that Hogan’s phrenic nerve may have been “severed,” has raised questions about the circumstances of his death.

Although the Pinellas County medical examiner ruled Hogan’s death a heart attack, the Clearwater Beach Police Department continues to investigate. Sky has ordered a private autopsy and is cooperating with authorities, providing medical records, surveillance video, and details on Hogan’s medications while awaiting cremation pending the results.
