Police operatives in Niger State have arrested two men for allegedly plotting to assassinate a resident in Bosso Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Muhammad Mohammed, 40, and Mohammed Usman, 35, both from the Beji community, were apprehended on August 23 by a joint team of police officers and vigilantes.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest, stating that a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and N13,000 were recovered from the suspects. According to the police, the men confessed during interrogation that they were contracted by one Dogo, also from Beji, to kill a man who had married his ex-wife.

“They were reportedly on their way to collect their service fee of N100,000 when they were apprehended,” Abiodun disclosed. Preliminary investigations revealed that Dogo had given them N13,000 as transport fare.

The suspects are in custody at the State CID while efforts to apprehend Dogo are ongoing.
