NDLEA dismantles a massive 71.5-hectare cannabis farm in Taraba, arresting a 30-year-old suspect and seizing 178,750kg of skunk.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed a 71.5-hectare cannabis farm in Mayodoga forest, Taraba State, seizing 178,750kg of skunk. A 30-year-old suspect, Alfa Andrew, was arrested during the operation, which was supported by the Nigerian Army, Forest Security Service, Mambila Youth Vanguard, and vigilante groups.

In Anambra, a 75-year-old man, Uchelue Ikechukwu, and five others were arrested with illicit substances, including 26.7kg of skunk. Similar raids in Abuja, Kano, Edo, and other states led to significant seizures of tramadol, opioids, cannabis, and methamphetamine.

A major opioid supplier, Uchenna Umeh, was arrested in Borno with 30,640 tramadol pills, 7,940 rohypnol tablets, and N7.9m cash. In Ekiti, NDLEA recovered 5.3kg of Loud and Colorado in its largest seizure in the state.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the nationwide operations aimed to dismantle drug cartels and curb trafficking ahead of the 2027 elections.
