United have tabled a new bid for Lammens as Villa also make a move for the Belgian goalkeeper.

Manchester United have submitted a new offer for Senne Lammens, their preferred goalkeeper target, as Aston Villa reportedly made an approach for the Belgian ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline.

United are keen to bring in a new shot-stopper with neither Andre Onana nor Altay Bayindir convincing so far this season. Talks with Lammens have progressed, but over the weekend United also rekindled interest in Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez. Reports claim an agreement on personal terms with Martinez is in place, though United will only sign one of the two.

The Telegraph states that United’s latest bid for Lammens, valued at over £20m, comes as Villa explore their own move for the 23-year-old, who is highly rated in Belgium and has drawn attention from Galatasaray. Martinez, 32, could cost twice that figure. United remain hopeful of completing a deal before the window closes in 36 hours.
