Hilda Baci plans to cook 250 bags of rice in a 22,619-litre pot to set a Guinness World Record for the biggest jollof rice.

Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced plans to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, using 250 bags of rice for the attempt.

Baci, who set the record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, revealed the details in a video posted on Instagram on Monday. She explained that the custom-made pot for the feat has a volume of 22,619 litres, which she aims to fill up to 80 percent.

“My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 per cent. That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice,” she said.

While the calculation amounted to 264 bags, she said, “I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags.”

The chef added that the challenge would also require 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste, split evenly with other condiments, to create what she described as the “most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice you have ever tasted.”
