Reno Omokri has condemned Peter Obi for his silence over Simon Ekpa’s six-year terrorism sentence in Finland, accusing him of selective justice.
Former presidential aide and author Reno Omokri has criticised the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for remaining silent over the conviction of Biafran separatist agitator Simon Ekpa in Finland .
In a post on his verified X account on Tuesday, Omokri contrasted Obi’s silence with the candidate’s earlier demand for the arrest and prosecution of musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall following the ValueJet incident. He accused Obi of demonstrating double standards in his approach to justice .
He wrote, “24 hours later, Peter Obi has still not said anything about Simon Ekpa’s arrest, trial, or conviction. This is the same man who called for the arrest, trial, and imprisonment of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, AKA K1 De Ultimate, after the ValueJet incident. ‘That is Peter Obi’s justice: Arrest a musician from the Southwest, protect a terrorist from the Southeast!’”
Tribune Online reports that Ekpa, a Biafran political activist and long-time Finland resident, was sentenced on Monday to six years in prison by a Finnish district court after being found guilty of participating in a terrorist organisation and publicly inciting crimes for terrorist purposes .
