A Lagos court has ordered two DNA tests to determine the paternity of Mohbad’s son following a request by the late singer’s father.

The Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has ordered two DNA tests on Liam Aloba, the son of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga issued the ruling on Tuesday following an application by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, who requested confirmation of the child’s paternity.

The application sought approval for samples to be taken from the deceased at the Military Hospital in Yaba, with tests conducted in Nigeria and abroad at the applicant’s expense. In court filings, Aloba argued that “uncertainty about Liam’s paternity made it necessary to conclusively settle the matter,” stressing its importance for maintenance and the child’s welfare.

Represented by Augustine Adegbemi from the chambers of Dr Wahab Shittu (SAN) & Co., Aloba’s application faced no opposition. Kabir Akingbolu appeared for the respondent, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, the late singer’s wife.

The court directed that both parties be present during sample collection. The case was adjourned to November 11, 2025.
