A Federal High Court has ordered comedian Ali Baba’s eviction from a Victoria Island property, ruling that AMCON’s sale of the building was invalid and restoring ownership to the original family.
Popular comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, known as Ali Baba, and his company, XQZMOI TV, have been evicted from a Victoria Island property following a Federal High Court ruling.
Bailiffs executed the eviction on August 15, 2025, acting on a writ of possession issued after Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa dismissed a suit filed by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) against Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited. The court instead upheld Harold Expansion’s counterclaim, reversing the property’s sale.
The disputed property at 324A Akin Ogunlewe Street was sold to Ali Baba in 2021 for ₦220 million while litigation was ongoing. Justice Lewis-Allagoa faulted AMCON for failing to provide sufficient evidence of debt and for not defending against Harold Expansion’s counterclaim, awarding ₦500 million in damages to the company.
The ruling restores the property to the family of the late original owner.
