Tinubu Reinstates NTA DG, Executive Director

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recalled Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), to complete his three-year tenure. Dembos had earlier vacated the post following management changes.

The President also reinstated Ayo Adewuyi, Executive Director of News, whose tenure runs until 2027.

The directive was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.


DHQ Denies Paying Allowances to Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters has dismissed allegations that the military pays terrorists or provides them with food. Chief of Defence Operations, Major General Emeka Onumajuru, said on Channels TV Tuesday that such practices are counterproductive.

He explained that the military only operates a Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) process for repentant ex-combatants.

The clarification followed recent claims by ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who alleged the government supported insurgents.


Tinubu Defies Trump Tariffs, Cites Strong Economy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has downplayed the impact of U.S. President Donald Trump’s new tariff regime, insisting Nigeria’s non-oil revenue growth provides resilience.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Tinubu said Nigeria had already met its 2025 revenue target and stabilised the naira through forex reforms. The U.S. recently imposed a 15% tariff on Nigerian exports.


Bala Mohammed Slams Wike, Loyalists Over PDP Crisis

Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has criticised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his allies for opposing the PDP convention slated for November 15–16 in Ibadan.

Speaking at the inauguration of the organising committee in Abuja, Mohammed said the party would not be intimidated, describing Wike’s group as a “faction of fools.”


Atiku Blasts Tinubu Over Insecurity, Claims 10,000 Dead

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Tinubu administration of failing to address worsening insecurity.

In a statement Tuesday, Atiku claimed over 10,000 lives had been lost in northern states since Tinubu took office.

He lamented renewed killings in Kwara, Niger, Plateau, and Benue, urging security agencies to act decisively.


FG, NASS Back WAEC’s Switch to CBT by 2026

The Federal Government and National Assembly have endorsed WAEC’s plan to fully adopt computer-based testing (CBT) by 2026.

Education Minister Maruf Alausa said Tuesday the transition would reduce malpractice and enhance credibility.

WAEC’s Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, revealed that private candidates had already piloted CBT since 2024.

Cooking Gas Price Rises 44.5% in One Year – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas rose by 44.51% year-on-year in July 2025.

The cost increased from ₦14,261 to over ₦20,600.

Analysts blame high import costs and foreign exchange volatility for the surge.
