The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has released its Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 34 (August 18–24, 2025), confirming three new cases in Edo and Ondo states. The figure represents a decline from five cases recorded in the previous week.
The report indicates that, cumulatively for 2025, the confirmed case count has risen to 857, accompanied by 160 deaths. The case fatality rate (CFR) now stands at 18.7 percent, an increase from the 17.1 percent recorded in the same period last year.
In total, 21 states have reported at least one confirmed case across 106 local government areas.
