Giorgio Armani, the Italian designer who redefined global fashion with his timeless elegance and impeccable tailoring, has died at 91.
Italian fashion legend Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, his brand confirmed on Wednesday. Armani, who began his career in the 1960s before founding his luxury label in 1975, transformed modern fashion with his minimalist tailoring and sophisticated designs.
“He worked until his final days,” the brand said on Instagram, describing him as “indefatigable to the end.”
Donatella Versace paid tribute, writing: “The world lost a giant today, he made history and will be remembered forever.”
Armani was the first designer to ban underweight models and dressed Hollywood stars including Zendaya and Cate Blanchett. He also designed costumes for American Gigolo and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni hailed him as “an icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy.”
Even in his 90s, Armani continued to present collections, leaving a lasting legacy that will shape fashion for generations.
