A UK teen suffered brain injury and tongue damage after attempting TikTok’s “tap out” challenge.

A British teenager was left with severe injuries after taking part in a TikTok trend known as the “tap out” challenge, his mother has revealed.

Lucas Howson, from Lincolnshire, suffered a brain injury and nearly bit through his tongue when he was placed in a chokehold until he passed out. “He wasn’t making any sense,” his mother, Amy Howson, told Kennedy News. “He kept repeating himself. He didn’t know where he was.”

On July 17, Amy was alerted that her 13-year-old son had collapsed in a park. When she arrived, Lucas was covered in blood and appeared disoriented. Doctors later confirmed he had bitten through three-quarters of his tongue and briefly lost consciousness.

Amy said her son admitted that classmates regularly attempted the stunt. “He said, ‘We always do it’. He said everyone’s doing it around school,” she recalled.

Calling for stricter monitoring of social media, Amy warned: “These videos should definitely be reviewed. Don’t try them.”
